Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the EMS Professions (CoAEMSP)

Role

CoAEMSP is a non-profit, non-governmental accreditation organization for paramedic and AEMT educational programs and functions on behalf of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). CoAEMSP’s role is to independently verify compliance with the CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines for paramedic educational programs.

Reviews

CoAEMSP will review paramedic and AEMT education programs and determine the compliance of the program against CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines. The CAAHEP will make the final determination for accreditation and that information will then be conveyed to the Regulatory Agency.

Investigates

CoAEMSP will investigate complaints against paramedic (or AEMT) education programs. The findings cannot be released or shared with the state EMS office or the National Registry until the investigation is complete and ultimately, action is taken by CAAHEP.
