About the

National Registry

The National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians is a non-profit, non-governmental organization with a team of professionals specializing in the development of valid, reliable, psychometrically sound, and legally defensible high-stakes examinations.

As an accredited national certification body, the National Registry reduces the burden of examination development for governments. By providing a single standardized assessment, it ensures consistency across the nation, eliminating the need for multiple state-specific standards.

Through validating the knowledge, skills, and competency of EMS professionals and providing a uniform standard across states for emergency medical care, at its core, the National Registry is focused on public safety.

As the EMS certification organization our:

Ensure that all EMS Clinicians have the knowledge and skills required for competent practice.

A safer and healthier world where all patients receive care from certified EMS clinicians.

To support the EMS profession through partnerships, research, and lifelong assessment of clinical competence.

THE NATIONAL REGISTRY CERTIFICATIONS

The National Registry’s examinations are independently accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA)*, which adheres to the rigorous Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing to evaluate examination programs.

Credentialing protects the public, assures consumers that professionals have met standards of practice, advances the EMS profession, and establishes standards of professional knowledge, skills, and practice.
